Beyond Golf: How the Barracuda Championship champions philanthropy and community engagement
As title sponsor of the Barracuda Championship, Barracuda is proud to continue its commitment to charitable giving and to support the PGA TOUR’s tradition of giving back. Together, we are making a difference with a number of organizations and communities through charitable donations and programming that support education, youth development and other worthwhile causes.
Eagles for Innovation
This year, Barracuda is excited to introduce a new charitable program – Eagles for Innovation. Throughout the tournament, for every eagle made on the 15th hole, Barracuda will donate $2,000 to Girls Who Code. This organization is dedicated to inspiring, educating and equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and other transformative technologies.
Since its launch in 2012, Girls Who Code has reached an impressive 760,000 students through both in-person and virtual programming, making a significant impact on young lives. By supporting Girls Who Code, Barracuda is taking an active role in helping youth develop the skills necessary to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Morgan Young, an alumna of Girls Who Code, will be attending the Barracuda Championship along with other program participants. We are looking forward to welcoming them to the tournament.
The Importance of Community Engagement
Community involvement remains at the heart of the Barracuda Championship. This year, the event is expanding on the popular “Folds of Honor Friday” that was introduced at the tournament last year, allowing fans, staff, caddies, players, sponsors, and volunteers to show their support for U.S. service members and first responders by wearing red, white and blue. This initiative provides attendees with an opportunity to honor and unite in support of families of fallen or disabled American military service members and first responders.
The championship will also continue its partnership with Youth on Course (YOC), a California-based nonprofit dedicated to providing greater golf opportunities for youth. During the tournament’s Pro-Am, caddies will have the chance to learn from professional athletes, fostering mentorship and growth.
The championship offers numerous volunteer opportunities, allowing individuals to engage in different aspects of tournament operations and contribute to the event’s success.
Charitable contributions
Since its inception in 1999, the Barracuda Championship has donated over $5.5 million to charitable efforts. Support from charity partners, sponsors and beneficiaries has enabled the tournament to host events aimed at raising funds and awareness for various causes.
The Barracuda Championship continues to be a catalyst for positive change, supporting philanthropic initiatives that uplift and enrich local communities. With the introduction of the Eagles for Innovation program, Barracuda is committed to making a difference in education and innovation for youth in technology.
