Barracuda’s vision for network security
In November, Gartner released the 2021 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Network Firewalls, and for the very first time Barracuda was listed in the Visionaries quadrant. But what does it mean to be Visionary? According to Gartner, "Visionaries have a strong and unique vision for delivering a modern state-of-the-art network security platform.” For Completeness of Vision, Gartner assesses “a vendor’s understanding of how market forces can be exploited to create value for customers and opportunity for themselves," and for Ability to Execute they look at, "a vendor’s ability to make its vision a market reality that customers will regard as differentiated and that they will be prepared buy into.” 1
What makes Barracuda’s approach to network security unique
There are many strategic factors involved when it comes to a placement like this, but we believe it comes down to three things: an innovative product vision, building an network security platform powered by automation and integration, and providing best-in-class customer experience.
Barracuda is offering network firewalls, primarily for distributed offices and public cloud use cases within our CloudGen Firewall product line, as well as Firewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS) through our Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) offering, CloudGen WAN. Compared with the majority of firewall vendors, we believe our unique strengths are our mature cloud security features, which make CloudGen Firewall a good fit for connecting to the public cloud, and the integration with native AWS and Microsoft Azure controls.
Innovation is in Barracuda’s DNA, and our continuous development efforts have led to strong progress in our network security portfolio, including CloudGen Access, a Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) offering; CloudGen WAN to address work-from-home and remote-office use cases; and our solutions for OT security use cases.
Legacy and innovation
Barracuda has a legacy in designing network security solutions for the cloud era, starting several years ago with the first next-generation firewall that got Microsoft Azure certified, continuing with being the first vendor providing multi-link support for Microsoft Azure Virtual WAN, and introducing the first secure SD-WAN service built natively on Microsoft Azure. Barracuda is fully committed to driving further innovation aimed to provide a fully-fledged network security platform integrating all connectivity and security functions in a cloud-delivered service.
2021 and beyond
At Barracuda, we see it as a major accomplishment to be named a Visionary in the Magic Quadrant, and we believe it was made possible by the dedication, hard work, and collaboration of our teams at Barracuda, our customers, and partners. While we’re excited to receive this recognition, we are even more excited about continuing to deliver a comprehensive network security platform that provides industry-leading flexibility, functionality, and protection to organizations of all kinds.
