The Barracuda team is back in California after a whirlwind week in Orlando for Microsoft Ignite 2019. From the Microsoft Cybersecurity Summit pre-day on Sunday, co-sponsored by Microsoft Intelligence Security Association (MISA), to product announcements, sessions, and more, we kept everyone busy all the way through Friday.
We started the week off right on Sunday, being recognized at the Microsoft Cybersecurity Summit pre-day for being a member of the Microsoft Intelligence Security Association.
We followed that up with several big announcements on Tuesday:
- Launch of Barracuda Web Application Firewall (WAF) as a service – built on Azure. As part of the new Barracuda Cloud Application Protection (CAP) platform, the WAF-as-a-Service solution is fully featured yet easy to deploy and manage.
- Launch of V-WAN Multi-link for CloudGen Firewall. Customers can leverage an Azure backbone to eliminate latency in web-accessed apps like Office 365.
While we had two big cloud announcements at the event, Ignite was about all things Microsoft, so this wasn’t simply an Azure show. in the Microsoft world, Office 365 is considered the “Productivity Cloud,” and the top issues organizations wrestle with are securing email and preventing increasingly sophisticated phishing attacks. So, in addition to cloud security discussions, we also had quite a few conversations throughout the week about email security, preventing phishing, and hybrid security. Many organizations are embracing cloud but also realizing their go-forward is a hybrid world.
A few other highlights throughout the week included:
Barracuda being highlighted during the Global Transit Network Architectures with Azure Virtual WAN session on Wednesday morning as the first vendor to provide this. (Watch the replay of the session here.)
Sarah Fender calling out “the just-announced connector with Barracuda CloudGen Firewall” in the Azure Sentinel session.
Barracuda CEO BJ Jenkins being interviewed live from Ignite on The Cube.
Nonstop traffic at the booth all week, with lots of great conversations with partners and customers about our cloud security, email security, and more.
