Focus on security at Microsoft Inspire 2019
Three key areas of focus for Microsoft Azure that pertain to security are compliance and governance, identity, and Microsoft’s new Azure Sentinel.
Sentinel, announced last year, is the first native Azure SIEM solution (Security Information and Event Management). Key to effectively utilizing Sentinel is leveraging intelligence from third-party applications – such as the Barracuda Web Application Firewall (WAF). In fact, directions are included in Microsoft’s Azure documentation (docs.microsoft/azure) on how Barracuda devices should be incorporated when Microsoft Sentinel is being utilized.
During the CISO Breakout for Microsoft Partners, Chuck Enstall, CISSP, CSSP (Azure Cloud Security & Compliance Architect) – one of Microsoft’s Global Black Belts – spoke at length on how third-party solutions like Barracuda integrate with the larger Azure Core Security vision – and how Microsoft sees third parties like Barracuda as natural extensions to built-in and intentionally generic security solutions, to allow Azure customers to build the best-hardened security solutions – and secure their journey to the cloud.
