Obviously re:Invent isn't all about Barracuda though. AWS has put together an amazing agenda with content hubs, sessions, keynotes, hackathons, labs, bootcamps, and more. With each re:Invent show bigger than the last, it can be a bit overwhelming to sift through the noise and decide which sessions to attend, so wanted to offer up some of the highlights that we're sure you won't want to miss.
We'd love to see you at re:Invent, so let's start with the Barracuda booth and events. You already know we'll be at the expo, booth #2029. If you stop by, you'll be able to one-on-one chats with our experts in DevOps and cloud security:
SVP Advanced Technology Engineering
VP, Public Cloud
Our team of experts will also have daily presentations on the following:
- Cloud Security Guardian
- Web Application Firewall
- Cloud Generation Firewall
- AWS Solution Architects “Ask me Anything” sessions on Networking and Security
SEC306-S – Moving 400 Engineers to AWS: Our Journey to Secure Adoption
Join us, and learn how we made AWS our backbone, modularized our software for the cloud, and gained an immediate surge in velocity. In this session, we walk you through some of the unexpected security challenges we faced and hopefully save you a few headaches. Discover what security issues you need to address, how to avoid costly unused instances in your deployments, and why your current security tools won’t help. We show you how a major transformation landed us on AWS, and we share how we overcame challenges and advanced our business while innovating in a new direction. This session is brought to you by AWS partner, Barracuda Networks Inc.

AWS re:Invent Bootcamps are opportunities to refine and improve existing skills as well as learn new ways to work on AWS. There are several types of bootcamps and it would be a shame to not take advantage of them. Here are a couple that we recommend:
BUILDING AN AWS CLOUD ADOPTION BUSINESS CASE
In this intermediate half-day course, you learn how a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) goes beyond policy writing and governance to transition an organization to the cloud to build a reusable foundation of capabilities to accelerate delivery for application teams. The course also covers the key components of the Cloud Operating Model, such as roles, responsibilities, tools, and processes to support the cloud journey, while ensuring adherence to corporate standards for architecture, operations, security, and finance. course covers high-level Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) business perspectives, financial and economic aspects, and the business value benefits of building the business case. It examines factors such as people and resource modeling, governance, operations, and cost modeling. Additionally, you learn how to calculate the total cost of migration (TCM), the total cost of operation (TCO), and the total cost of decommission (TCD).
CLOUD PRACTITIONER ESSENTIALS
The introductory-level full day course is intended for individuals who seek an overall understanding of the AWS Cloud, independent of specific technical roles. It provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS services, security, architecture, pricing, and support. It includes lab exercises reinforcing some of the core concepts of the lecture.
There are many more bootcamps to choose from, so be sure to check out all of your options!
You can't go wrong with the four amazing keynotes from AWS leaders. Here's hoping you don't have to choose just one! Get the details here.
Do you enjoy competitions? Hackathons and Jam Sessions are highly gamified events where participants complete tasks that challenge and educate on the use of a wide range of AWS services and have fun in the process. They all look like great events, but the Security Jam is a session that that security geeks should not miss:
MGM Studio Ballroom
Thursday, Nov. 29
Doors open at 7AM
Join us for a day long jam! We will provide the beat and brand new incident response scenarios where you can learn new skills and practice current ones against a set of simulated security incidents. Can you identify what caused the blues? What would you do differently? How can you architect multiple AWS services to prevent it from happening again? How do you automate the incident response? Take part in our jam to find out! If you get excited about securing your stuff, come and challenge your skillset while learning some new techniques.
Be sure to check out all of the details on the Hackathon and Jam Sessions page here.
There are hundreds of AWS re:Invent sessions to attend, and our experts Fleming and Tim will jump in and make some recommendations on specific sessions in their upcoming blog posts. For now be sure to visit the full AWS re:Invent session catalog here.
