Microsoft has just released hourly VM licensing availability (also known as PAYG or pay-as-you-go) licensing for Azure Government Marketplace, which serves users in federal, state, local and tribal U.S. governments.
Microsoft Azure Government offers level 5 DoD approval, hybrid flexibility, and the broadest compliance with the most certifications of any cloud provider. The platform is offered exclusively to governments and is operated by screened US citizens. This limited access platform was made available to government consumers in December of 2014, but Barracuda has been a part of this space since its beta launched in March of that year.
Barracuda CloudGen WAF and CloudGen Firewalls are also now available with PAYG or hourly licensing in the Azure Government Marketplace. We were one of the first security solution providers in the Azure Gallery (before it was the Azure Marketplace), and we even had our 15 minutes of fame at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference when Scott Guthrie announced the Azure certification process and used the Barracuda WAF to demonstrate how easy it is to use the platform. Today we offer a full suite of solutions for Azure with our Cloud Generation Firewalls, Web Application Firewalls, and Email Security Gateways.
Barracuda solutions for Azure are engineered to leverage all the benefits of the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. Customers increasingly want to consume cloud and cloud services with maximum flexibility, and leverage features like auto-scaling on an as-needed basis. Pay-as-you-go licensing is an important piece of that flexibility.
With pay-as-you-go licensing, customers only pay for what they use. This is great for applications that have unpredictable workloads or are currently under development and testing on Azure. We’re pleased to be among the first Independent Software Vendors (ISV) offering this in the Azure Government Marketplace.
