Our team is pleased to announce that the Barracuda Mobile Device Manager now supports Android devices. This means that millions of Android users can now enjoy the mobile security and data protection of Barracuda MDM.
Barracuda MDM was limited to iOS devices when we launched last year. This was great for some environments, but it left thousands of companies without the full protection of our service. Many companies offer a BYOD environment that supports Android devices in some way. Mixed environments, Android-only, or iOS environments that support guest users who may have Android devices. These companies can now leverage the many features of Barracuda MDM:
- Device configuration
- Network access
- Application management
- Data leak prevention
- Remote monitoring & support
What does this mean for the SysAdmin who is in charge of ensuring “anywhere, anytime” access to users?
Barracuda Mobile Device Manager is accessed through Barracuda Cloud Control. It can be accessed through the web at any time, allowing SysAdmins to centrally administer and monitor both managed and employee-owned mobile phones and tablets. Employees can safely use their devices on corporate networks and gain secure access to network resources via WiFi, VPN, and email settings.
Administrators can perform many functions through the web-based interface:
- Set device security policies
- Distribute certificates
- Deploy and monitor applications
- Control device features
- Securely deliver documents
- Remotely manage and monitor mobile devices
- Extend network and content security policies to mobile devices
There’s no question that mobile in the workplace continues to grow. Gartner predicts that 60% of information workers will interact with content applications via a mobile device by the end of this year, and Deloitte predicts an untethered, mobile only workplace. Barracuda MDM enables the SysAdmin and the organization to safely implement Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) programs.
