Earlier today we announced the release of Barracuda version Firewall 6.5. This is a major release that adds new features and enhancements to our award-winning firewall.
Enterprise-grade Application Control allows admins to create policies for more than 1200 browser and non-browser-based applications. This can be used to block unwanted applications for certain users or groups; control and throttle acceptable traffic; preserve bandwidth and speed up business critical applications; enable or disable specific sub-applications (e.g., Facebook Chat, Skype Video); and inspect SSL-encrypted application traffic.
A New Web Interface allow firewall admins to set up their dashboards in a way that reflects their own priorities. The new drag and drop capability allows you to position the elements anywhere you like on the page.
Detailed, enhanced reporting on network traffic, web requests, and application usage is now available. Reports can be generated via the Barracuda Report Creator and can be filtered for specific users and groups for additional granularity.
A new, on-box URL Filter allows customers with an active Web Security subscription to create and enforce Internet content and access policies directly on the firewall. This means that Internet traffic does not have to be routed through the Web Security Service cloud.
Customers now have the option to store Barracuda Firewall configuration backups in the cloud using the Barracuda Cloud Control. This makes it easy to create and access a working, off-site, and current configuration backup.
The new Barracuda Report Creator makes creating IT security reports easy. Monitor, report, and present bandwidth usage and all other security related information. It's easy to customize the layout, delivery, and types of reports.
And that's not all. Barracuda Firewall version 6.5 also includes client-to-site VPN with pre-shared keys, and VPN site-to-site Remote and Local Networks. You can get more information on these and all of the other features in our Techlib documentation.
Barracuda Firewall version 6.5 extends next-generation features and includes powerful application control capabilities. For even more powerful application-based features, take a look at the Barracuda NG Firewall. The NG Firewall includes features such as Deep Application Context, Personalized Application Control, and Application-based Link Selection. Details on all NG Firewall features are here.
Try the Barracuda Firewall 6.5 for 30-days at no risk by filling out this form or giving us a call. If you already have the Barracuda Firewall and an Energize Updates subscription, you can update to the latest version through your administration panel.
