Hey, remember this post? We had so much fun introducing Patrick that we thought we’d make it a regular thing. So this week it is our pleasure to introduce Frank Dreamer.
You may remember Frank from this post, where he explained the difference between ham and spam. Frank is a Barracuda Support Technician who specializes in Spam and Virus, Email Security, SSL VPN, And Firewall. Here’s his Q & A:
How long have you worked in technology and when did you join Barracuda?
I’ve worked in technology for over 15 years, and started with Barracuda 2 years ago. I have a degree in Computer Systems Security and I have a genuine interest in that topic.
What is a typical day like for you?
I spend the majority of my day on the phone assisting customers with issues related to security and their Barracuda products. I spend a lot of time talking to people and helping them.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is solving problems. I love puzzles and solving them.
What advice would you give someone who wants to get into tech support?
If you are going to get into technical support, make sure you are truly interested in the subject. This field requires you to be learning constantly because it is always evolving. It definitely helps to study a subject you really enjoy.
Since you are pursuing a second degree, what advice would you give someone who works full time and is going to school too?
Balance. Make sure you have a little bit of personal time each day. Without it you are just a drone. You will burn out and you will not find any joy in anything.
What are your hobbies? What do you do after hours?
I collect hobbies as a hobby. I am an artist and spend a lot of time sculpting, painting or drawing. I love the outdoors and am a avid hiker, mountain biker, and skier.
