Easy configuration of PCs, Macs, iPhones and iPads with Barracuda SSL VPN 2.4

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We are pleased to announce a great new feature available in the recent release of Barracuda SSL VPN 2.4 called “Device Configuration.” This feature automatically makes the configuration changes required on end-users devices in order to access internal applications and files. This makes configuring and supporting end users’ devices much easier for system administrators.

This Device Configuration allows system administrators to provision resources, and other settings configured on the Barracuda SSL VPN, directly on a user's device. When logged in, the user will see resources and settings (on their RESOURCES > Device Configuration page). There they can select the resources to be provisioned and where they should be located on the device (for example on the Desktop).

Windows Devices

PCs running windows can be provisioned with the following items:

  • Shortcuts (e.g. on the desktop) to easily access SSL VPN Applications, Web Forwards, Audit Reports, Network Places and SSL Tunnels
  • Mapped Drives
  • Client Certificates
  • IPsec Settings for a client-to-site VPN connection
  • PPTP Settings for a client-to-site VPN connection

iOS and Mac OS X (10.7+) Devices

These devices can be provisioned with the following items:

  • Mail settings (i.e. to connect to your organisation’s mail service)
  • Exchange Settings
  • LDAP Settings
  • Webclip Shortcuts (on the desktop) to easily access SSL VPN Applications, Web Forwards, Audit Reports, Network Places and SSL Tunnels
  • Client Certificates
  • IPsec Settings for a client-to-site VPN connection
  • PPTP Settings for a client-to-site VPN connection

All of this is documented in detail in our SSL VPN TechLib here.

Keep your eyes peeled for some more awesome mobile device support coming with Barracuda SSL VPN 2.5 in a few weeks.
